Andre Turenne is a senior vice president of D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. and an executive of the D. E. Shaw group's venture capital unit. Mr. Turenne has more than twenty-five years of operating, technical, and venture investment experience in the technology sector. Prior to joining the D. E. Shaw group in 2006, Mr. Turenne was a managing director of NeoCarta Ventures, Inc., a venture capital investment firm. From 1996 to 2000, he served as senior manager of strategic investments at Intel Capital, the venture capital unit of Intel Corporation. Before beginning his more than ten years of venture capital experience, Mr. Turenne also spent five years at Intel Corporation in various technical, marketing, and sales management roles. Prior to working at Intel, Mr. Turenne spent six years in various engineering and engineering management positions at Photocircuits Corporation, a leading producer of printed circuit boards. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Altierre Corp.; Asetek Inc.; PanTerra Networks; and Winery Exchange, Inc. During his tenure at the D. E. Shaw group, he also served on the boards of directors of Meru Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ; MERU) and PGP Corporation (acquired by Symantec Corporation). Mr. Turenne is also a member of the board of trustees of the Sea Crest School in Half Moon Bay, CA. He received his B.S. in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University, where he was recognized as valedictorian of his class.
